Why a 27-year-old refrigerator was worth repairing
Built-in refrigerators are designed for long service lives and fit a specific cabinet opening. Replacing one often means cabinetry work as well as a new unit. For a built-in, a fan, defrost, control or valve repair is normally a clear win; even larger repairs deserve a real quote before anyone recommends replacement. For standard freestanding refrigerators the math is different, which we cover on the refrigerator repair page.
